Quotes on the Editor of this blog, and author of "Primitive Fire Lighting"

Ron Martin

I use Mr.Burgess's method of installing flints in both of my flintlock rifles. I think Mr. Burgess's method works best for me. Obviously, Mr. Burgess knows what he is doing and he doesn't add a lot of Pomp and nonsense to his videos. That is why I view all of the videos he publishes on YouTube. Thank you Mr. Burgess. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHEOMSZJETfj3GnoyONuvCQ?view_as=subscriber

One of the foremost specialists in historical fire-making is re-enactment and Living History expert Keith Burgess, whose little book on the subject I have found most enlightening. Keith’s blog can be found here.

Hi,
there is a tag going around the bushcraft channels on YouTube where people who like to make bushcraft videos are promoting each others channels as a support and inspiration to each other. I know that your channel is not that type of bushcraft oriented channel, but I mentioned you in it it anayway, since I
like what you do.

The tag is in this video:

You do not need to make a video response, unless you wan't to, only want to promote your channel a little as a thank you for what I have learned from you on your channel,

Best regards

I always liked this video. Just finished reading your book on primitive fire lighting, flint and steel and fire bow. Very good book. Even if I can get a fire going I think I learned quite a bit from it. Also nice to refresh da memory on some things as well.

First I would like to say thank you for making a book. Second I would like to say thank you for the amazing job you did on it. I read it yesterday and I must say I learned a lot by your book. It shows that you put a lot of time and effort into it and I would like to say thank you very much for making it. If you are going to make another book at some point I would be very interested in buying it. You are a great man and thank you for all of your time with youtube channel and also for your book. All the best -Joshua

Thank you so much Keith.  I really appreciate it and wish you all the best.

I am familiar and watched many of your internet videos.  I'm thankful that you do what you do and share it with the world, I've learned a lot from you already and it adds to my quality of life.

Thank you again.

Dean

I have seen many explain how to hold and swing the axe but never have explained so precisely where to hit the wood for the best results. Your tutorial is greatly appreciated and the information used. Thank you!

Yes, we have talked in the past. I've been aware of your page as the best researched source on the web concerning our peculiar activities, and have used it for years. I owe you many thanks for that, as does everyone in the hobby.

Spence.

I realize this has been up for a while but I just found it. You, sir, are an absolute brilliant ray of sunshine in the dark, dreary world on bushcraft nonsense peddled on youtube. Your common sense advice reminds me of my grandfather who passed away 40 years ago, yet whom I still remember vividly. Your commentary reflects a thorough understanding of your own experience and serves as a valuable lesson for all of us. I am very happy to subscribe and I look forward to watching all your videos in the next few days. Thank you for this video and all you contribute!

Mr Burgess, love your techniques I have watched. Hope you continue to show us novice the old way! Thank you, so much.
